Evan Turner, who swept national player-of-the-year honors last season at Ohio State, has signed with the 76ers, the team announced Wednesday.

The Sixers selected the junior with the second overall pick in the draft and the 6-foot-7 star is expected to start at shooting guard. He won the Naismith Trophy and the John R. Wooden Award as player-of-the-year last season, among other awards.

Turner will be paid at least $3,835,600 in the first year of his contract, $4,123,200 in the second year, and $4,410,900 if the Sixers pick up his third-year option.

Turner, who sat out five weeks of this past season after suffering a fracture in his back, led the Big Ten in scoring at 20.4 points per game and averaged 9.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists.

Turner, 21, most likely will combine with 26-year-old Andre Iguodala to give the Sixers a one-two scoring punch.
