After missing the Mavs' first 27 regular-season games, Nowitzki entered with 6 minutes, 28 seconds left in the first quarter to a mix of cheers and boos. Nowitzki, who underwent surgery on his right knee Oct. 19, quickly picked up a rebound for Dallas and finished with eight points and six rebounds.

Elsewhere: Carmelo Anthony scored 19 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter to rally the host New York Knicks to a 94-91 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. . . . Blake Griffin scored 23 points, Chris Paul added 17 points and 13 assists, and the Los Angeles Clippers got their 13th straight win, 103-77, over the host Phoenix Suns.
