Celtics beat Suns

Carmelo Anthony was suspended one game by the NBA on Wednesday for confronting Kevin Garnett after the New York Knicks' loss to Boston on Monday.

Jeff Green scored 14 points, rookie Jared Sullinger added 12 and a career-best 16 rebounds, and the host Celtics recovered from a dreadful third quarter with a big rally to start the fourth and held off the slumping Phoenix Suns, 87-79.

Tony Parker scored 24 points, and the San Antonio Spurs handed the slumping Los Angeles Lakers their fifth straight loss with a 108-105 victory. It was the Spurs' 11th straight home victory.

Kyrie Irving scored 18 of his 33 points in the third quarter, and the injury-riddled Cleveland Cavaliers beat the visiting Atlanta Hawks, 99-83.

The visiting Utah Jazz beat the Charlotte Bobcats, 112-102. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had 15 points and eight rebounds, while Gerald Henderson had 14 points for the Bobcats.

League suspends Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony was suspended one game by the NBA on Wednesday for confronting Kevin Garnett after the New York Knicks' loss to Boston on Monday.

Anthony, who was angry about Garnett's choice of words during a fourth-quarter altercation, went toward the Celtics' locker room after the game and later waited for Garnett outside Boston's team bus.

Anthony will miss the Knicks' nationally televised game at Indiana on Thursday.

Love out again

If the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to chase their first playoff berth since 2004, they're going to have to do most of the work without Kevin Love. The all-star and Olympian will miss the next eight to 10 weeks after needing surgery to repair a right hand that is broken for the second time this season, the team announced.
