A person with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday that the Cleveland Cavaliers were exploring the possibility of signing 7-foot center Greg Oden, the former No. 1 overall pick who has undergone three major knee surgeries.

He hasn't played since 2009. While attending Ohio State's game against Wisconsin on Tuesday night, Oden said he hopes to play next season.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers lost at home to Golden State, 108-95, as Klay Thompson scored a career-high 32 points for the Warriors, who were missing three starters - guard Stephen Curry (ankle), center Andrew Bogut (ankle), and forward Harrison Barnes (knee). Carl Landry didn't play because of a shoulder injury.

Elsewhere: Brandon Jennings scored 30 points to lead Milwaukee past the Detroit Pistons, 117-90, in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Hunter reacts

Executive director Billy Hunter fired his daughter and daughter-in-law from the NBA players' association, less than two weeks after a review criticized his hiring practices.

In a letter dated Jan. 23 to the union's special committee of players, Hunter said that Robyn Hunter was to be let go as of Friday. Megan Inaba will stay on through the all-star break to help coordinate activities before leaving on Feb. 17.

Hunter also wrote that the NBPA no longer will work with Prim Capital, the banking firm that employs his son, Todd.

Adelman's concern

Minnesota Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman has been trying to keep a lid on his wife's health issues that caused him to be away from the team for three weeks, but she didn't understand why. So he relented, saying Mary Kay Adelman is suffering from seizures, and doctors haven't figured out what is causing them.
