Sixers end disappointing season with a victory
Sixers improve to 34-48 in what was likely Doug Collins' final game as their coach.
THE INDIANA PACERS, secured in the No. 3 playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, didn't use their meeting with the 76ers on Wednesday as a tune-up for the postseason; it was more of a rest up. Four of their normal starters began the game as spectators, the Sixers scored the first nine points of the game and the tone was set for a meaningless contest that was won by the Sixers, 105-95, who nearly had a 26-point lead dicipate.
Dorell Wright led the Sixers with 23 points, while Evan Turner scored 16 and Damien Wilkins 15. Lavoy Allen added 11 points and 11 rebounds and Thaddeus Young contributed 10 and eight. Rookie Arnett Moultrie had a career-high 12 rebounds to go with 14 points.
The Sixers finished the season 34-48. They'll go into the offseason with many uncertainties: The trade for Andrew Bynum didn't work out, because of his knee injuries. Coach Doug Collins will need to be replaced, and the roster will mostly be turned over.
Owner Josh Harris and Collins are scheduled to meet with the media on Thursday morning, most likely announcing that Collins is done as the head coach.
