IF THE 76ERS are looking to fill the need at point guard in next Thursday's draft, they got a good look at the two top prospects at that position, who were in town displaying their talents over the past couple of days.

Ohio State product D'Angelo Russell worked out for coach Brett Brown and others yesterday at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. The workout was planned to take place last week, but Russell had to cancel due to an illness. He was in the team's practice facility yesterday for an 11 a.m. workout and didn't leave until close to 4 p.m. A source said he looked very good during the workout.

The day before, Emmanuel Mudiay showed off his talents. Both players told the few media members gathered that their workouts were fine before being whisked off by drivers without further comment.

In his lone season at Ohio State, Russell averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and five assists. In most mock drafts, the 6-5, 185-pounder is listed as going to the Sixers with their third pick.

There was no new news coming out of the Sixers' camp regarding the health of Joel Embiid. The team revealed on Saturday that the center's stress fracture of the navicular bone in his right foot hasn't healed as well as expected. He suffered the injury last June.

The team will unveil its new uniforms tonight at the Wells Fargo Center during an event that will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Former players expected to attend are Billy Cunningham, Allen Iverson, Moses Malone, Bobby Jones and Darryl Dawkins. Current players are also expected. The event is free and open to the public . . . Among players working out at PCOM yesterday were Hollis Thompson, Jordan McRae, JaKarr Sampson, Isaiah Canaan, Furkan Aldemir, Pierre Jackson and Jerami Grant. Canaan, who sprained his right foot late last season, said he got the boot off a couple of weeks ago and has been working out since.
