"Best" and "Worst" awards: Sixers vs. Suns

PHOENIX – My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the Phoenix Suns' 115-101 victory over the 76ers on Saturday night at US Airways Center:

Best performance: I have to go with Miles Plumlee. The Phoenix Suns center did whatever he wanted.  The 6-foot-11, 255-pounder made 10 of 14 shots to finish with a career-best 22 points. Plumlee also had game highs of 13 rebounds and three blocked shots on a night where he received seven stitches and resumed playing

Worst performance:  I have to give this award to Elliot Wiliams. The Sixers guard laid an egg in his first career start. Williams finished with zero points while missing all five of his shots, including three from three-point range. He also had more personal fouls (three) than rebounds (two) in his 26 minutes of action.

Best performance in a losing effort: This goes to Thaddeus Young. The Sixers undersized power forward (6-8) turned in his third consecutive dominant performance. Young made 4 of 7 three-pointers en route to finishing with a game-high 30 points. He also had a game-high four steals to go with 10 rebounds.

Worst statistic: You have to give this to the Suns' third-quarter three-pointer shooting. They shot 1-for-9 (11.1 percent) from the beyond the arc in the quarter.

Best statistic: This award goes to Plumlee's first-quarter shooting. He made 6 of 7 shot (85. percent) during the first 12 minutes

Worst of the Worst:  This award goes to the production the Sixers received from their starting shooting guard and swingman. Hollis Thompson, who typically starts at shooting guard, moved to swingman in Evan Turner's absence. Thompson finished with four points on 2-for-8 shooting.  So he and Williams combined for 2-for-13 shooting and four points. That's awful.
