Kapono to sign with Lakers, report says

Sixers free agent Jason Kapono will sign for the veteran minimum with the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPNLosAngeles.com is reporting.

The deal is for 1 year and $1.2 million.

Kapono appeared in only 24 games for the Sixers last season with two starts and scored a total of 16 points. The Lakers are looking for perimeter shooting, something that is Kapono's specialty, although his three-point shooting has dipped substantially over the last few years.

In the previous season, Kapono played in 56 games for the Sixers but shot a career-low 36.8 percent from 3-point range.

He is no stranger to LA, having gone to UCLA and grown up in Southern California.
