Sixers' Joel Embiid picked by Steph Curry's team in NBA all-star draft
Joel Embiid will be joining forces with Steph Curry in the NBA All-Star game.
Steph Curry drafted 76ers center Joel Embiid on Thursday to play for Team Stephen in the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 18 in Los Angeles.
Embiid will start alongside the Golden State Warriors point guard and Houston Rockets guard James Harden, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetonkounmpo, and Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan.
Curry and Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, the all-star captains, picked the teams in New York, in the inaugural draft of players voted as starters and selected as reserves. The draft was not televised, and neither Curry nor James would reveal who they chose first when they were interviewed on TNT when the rosters were unveiled.
James will start on Team LeBron alongside DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), Kevin Durant (Warriors), and Kyrie Irving (Celtics).
For reserves, Curry chose Jimmy Butler (Minnesota Timberwolves), Al Horford (Boston Celtics), Draymond Green (Warriors), Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), Kyle Lowry (Raptors), Karl Anthony-Towns (Timberwolves), and Klay Thompson (Warriors). James picked LaMarcus Aldridge (San Antonio Spurs), Kevin Love (Cavs), Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards), Victor Oladipo (Indiana Pacers), Kristaps Porzingis (New York Knicks), John Wall (Wizards), and Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder).
