The Union tried a revamped starting lineup to help jump-start its offense, but despite a better attack, lost to host FC Dallas, 2-0, on Saturday night.

The Union began the game with Danny Mwanga and Roger Torres in the lineup, but was held scoreless for the third straight game on the road. The team has scored six goals in nine matches, the lowest total in the league.

The Union fell to 0-2-1 in its last three and 4-3-2 overall.

Dallas ran its shutout streak to 309 minutes and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman recorded his third consecutive shutout.

Although the Union had nine shots, Hartman had to make just one save, on Mwanga's 30-yard blast in the 77th minute.

Rookie Fabian Castillo had a goal and an assist for Dallas, now 5-0-1 in its last six and 5-3-2 overall. Castillo, the 18-year-old star from Colombia, delivered a nice cross to set up Brek Shea's goal in the 29th minute, then scored his second goal of the season in the 43rd minute.

The Union hosts Chicago on Saturday (8 p.m., Comcast SportsNet) at PPL Park.

Independence wins

Defender Estelle Johnson put the visiting Independence on the board in the second half to tie the game and midfielder Laura del Rio got the game-winner as Philadelphia beat Atlanta, 2-1, yesterday at Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium. Val Henderson had three saves for the Independence, who improved to 2-1-1; the Beat dropped to 1-4-1.
