Like Phillies, Union to go to Clearwater, Fla. for preseason

Philly's MLS team will be based at Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex, across the street from Phils' Bright house Field.

THE PHILLIES will have company in Clearwater, Fla., this February.

The Union announced yesterday it will move its preseason training operations to the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex in Clearwater, just across the street from Bright House Field.

"We are thrilled to be moving our spring training operations to the beautiful city of Clearwater," Union CEO Nick Sakiewicz said in a statement released by the team. "For more than 60 years Clearwater has proven to be a world class host to the Philadelphia Phillies and we look forward to forging a long tradition and relationship with both parties."

The Union will head to Florida on Feb. 2. The Chester-based MLS club plays a friendly against Jacksonville Armada FC at EverBank Field, home of the Jaguars, on Feb. 7, and another against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Feb. 10 in Clearwater. After returning to Philadelphia on Feb. 12, the team goes back to Florida from Feb. 16 to 28 for the IMG Tournament in Bradenton.
