Union forward Jack McInerney has landed another honor for his strong start to the season.

McInerney was named Major League Soccer's player of the month for April by the North American Soccer Reporters, an organization of journalists that cover the league.

McInerney recieved 13 first-place votes and four second-place votes from the 26 ballots cast.

The 20-year-old scored four goals in four games in April. He was named Player of the Week in the middle of the month after scoring twice in the Union's 3-2 win at D.C. United on April 21. That was the first time since 2011 that a Union player won Player of the Week honors.

The last Union player who won Player of the Month honors was Sébastien Le Toux in September 2011. That was the only other time a Union player has won the award.

The Union's next game is Saturday at PPL Park against the Seattle Sounders (4 p.m., WPVI-6).
