Defense leads Soul to win over Cleveland, 48-33

Arena football is known for its fast pace and high scoring. The Philadelphia Soul are defying that stereotype, and it has been working for them

Their defensive style of play shined once again on Saturday night as the Soul (15-3) took down the Cleveland Gladiators 48-33 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

The Soul defense put together five defensive stops, four on downs and one via a fumble, which is a lot for the Arena League.

"Anytime you can get a win in a hostile environment, you have to be pleased," Philadelphia Soul Head Coach Clint Dolezel said in a press release from the team.  "As well as the defense played tonight, I think we can get better.  We obviously didn't show too much in this game since we turn around and play them next week, but we do have some things to clean up and be ready for a run at the title."

Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh did not have a flashy night, but rather an efficient one. He finished the game 19-for-31 for  238 yards and six touchdowns.

Their run to the title starts next week. They are the top seed in the American Conference, and take on the Gladiators (8-10) once again. Cleveland is the fourth seed in the conference. The game will be at 5:00 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
