One man’s garbage time is another’s treasure

Guy in  our league lost in the playoffs last week because Ryan Mallett threw an interception at about 11:30 on Monday night.

It wasn't actually the interception, but the ensuing touchdown against the Patriots' defense that caused this guy to lose. If the Pats had held Houston to seven points, he would have gotten a three-point bonus. But the final score was 42-14 and my friend lost by two.

In fantasy, there is no such thing as garbage time.

THIS AND THAT

Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson has been ruled out for this week's game at Chicago because of a hamstring injury. Other than two strong games in October, Nelson has done more fantasy harm than good this season...Giants running back David Wilson becomes an interesting RB2 option now that Ahmad Bradshaw (sprained knee) has been ruled out. Wilson had three touchdowns last week against the Saints and Giants coach Tom Coughlin said the rookie has the physical capability to endure 20+ carrie...Whoops, Bryce Brown just fumbled again...Colts center Samson Satele (ankle) and right tackle Winston Justice (biceps) will not play this week....Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III (knee) will be a game-time decision...Rams running back Steven Jackson needs 71 rushing yards for 10,000. He's had 48 and 64 the last 2 weeks...Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles has just one 100-yard game in six career meetings with the Raiders. In Week 8, he had five carries for 4 yards.

FUN FACTS

Running back Marshawn Lynch gets his first crack at Buffalo since the Bills traded him to Seattle in the middle of the 2010 season. Buffalo received two draft picks in exchange for Lynch. They used a 2011 fourth-rounder on offensive tackle Chris Hairston, who has started 13 games for Buffalo but is on season-ending IR. They used the 2012 fifth-rounder on Tank Carder, a linebacker out of TCU whom they cut in training camp. Carder is with Cleveland now.

FUNNER FACTS

Trent Richardson is tied with Jim Brown for most rushing touchdowns by a Browns rookie. Richardson tied Brown's record last week with a pair of scores. It was his 13th game. Brown had his nine touchdowns in 12 games in 1957. And from-the-something-you-may-not-have-known file: Brown's 942 yards that season were the fewest in his 9-year career, but still more than the 869 Richardson has this year.

The comparisons aren't fair, but that's the price Richardson pays for getting drafted by Cleveland.
