Wings cruise past Minnesota Swarm, 15-8, to snap three-game losing streak

The Wings snapped a three-game losing streak by winning the back end of a home-and-home series with the Minnesota Swarm, 15-8, on Sunday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

A strong first quarter gave the Wings (2-3) a lead, which they never relinquished.

Forwards Pat Saunders and Tracey Kelusky each scored twice in the first half as the Wings took a 8-4 lead into halftime.

The Wings outscored the Swarm, 7-4, in the second half.

Forward Jordan Hall led the attack for the Wings in the second half with three of his game-high four goals. Hall still leads the team with 15 goals and 28 points. Both marks are one off the league leader.

Goalie Evan Kirk and the Wings defense allowed a season-low eight goals in the game. Kirk stopped 35 shots for the victory.

The special teams units also came up big for the Wings, tallying five power play goals on eight attempts and killing off three of the Swarm's five power play opportunities.

"It was nice to rebound today after a tough loss the night before," said Wings head coach Blane Harrison. "A lot of guys stepped up and played like we knew they could. The team put together a whole game."

Forward Ryan Ward supplied a game-high seven assists in the win and moved into a tie for the league lead in the category.

The Wings' next game is slated for February 1 as they host the Vancouver Stealth at the Wells Fargo Center.
