In a seesaw battle, the Wings were edged by the Colorado Mammoth, 13-12, in their season finale at the Wells Fargo Center Saturday night.

Hoping to close the season with a series sweep over the Mammoth, the Wings (6-12) fell short on fan appreciation night.

With the scored tied, 12-12, Colorado's Jamie Shewchuk scored with 2 minutes, 2 seconds left in the game to put the Mammoth up for good.

The Wings had opened up with two goals by Pat Saunders and Jordan Hall, the Wings' leading scorer, but Colorado fought back.

The Mammoth scored six goals in the fourth period to turn the tide.

Hall finished with two goals and three assists, while Kyle Buchanan notched three goals and an assist. Garrett Thul had three goals and two assists, Kevin Crowley totaled one goal and six assists, and Bill McGlone totaled one goal and three assists.

Goalie Kevin Crosswell faced 53 shots, making 40 saves.

Colorado (8-11) clinched the final playoff spot last week with a victory over Minnesota.
