The wiener dog race that took over Manayunk, in photos. You’re welcome.
Lucky’s Great Wiener Race at Venice Island benefitting PAWS drew dozens of hot dogs competing to be top dog.

Did you miss it? Lucky’s Great Wiener Race, benefitting the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, took over Manayunk on Thursday when dozens of dachshunds competed to be top dog of the hot dogs.
The event’s been around since 2014, with this year’s contest drawing 65 pups to the basketball court by the Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center.
The race’s winner, Archie, let out a yawn after smoking the competition, reports The Inquirer’s Michelle Myers.
“This is unbelievable, this man is a king,” Brett Yamane, Archie’s human, said after the race. “We love dachshunds and this is for a good cause, some dogs don’t get to be taken care of like this guy.”
