Rich Kirk, 73, of Oreland, PA. attends departure ceremonies in cold wind on the Camden Waterfront as the Battleship New Jersey leaves for the Paulsboro Marine Terminal. Kirk’s father, Raymond Kirk was a USS New Jersey "Plankowner" the term used in the Navy for crew members who served when a ship was first commissioned, so he visits the ship often. The World War II-era battleship turned museum will remain in Paulsboro for about a week as it’s prepared for dry docking before returning to the Navy Yard - to the dock where it was originally built at the start of WWII at what was then the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard.
