House of the week: A four-bedroom home in Cherry Hill for $595,000
The house is in a quiet neighborhood with no through traffic, the current owner said.

Ben Compton said his parents had always wanted family to move into their four-bedroom, 2½-bathroom saltbox-style Cherry Hill house after they passed.
But when his father died about two years ago and his mother just before last Christmas, Ben was living in Sonoma, Calif., and his sister, Cathleen Compton, in Florence, Italy. Neither wanted to move to Cherry Hill.
Their parents bought the recently completed Sturbridge Model in 1972. Cathleen was 10 at the time and Ben was 7. They wanted to move into a new house, Cathleen said, and were attracted to the Cherry Hill school system.
There are only three streets in the Wexford East neighborhood and no through traffic, she said, so “kids were out playing all the time.”
Now, Cathleen said, the trees are old growth, and the neighborhood “has kept that quiet character.”
The outside of her childhood home has perennials, natural ground cover, and rocks.
Stepping into the house on the main level, the living room has extra tall windows and a functional wood-burning fireplace. There is a formal dining room, and the kitchen has room for a table or a center island.
Sliding doors lead to the backyard and a laundry room.
Upstairs are four bedrooms and flex space that could allow for a fifth. The primary bedroom has an en suite bathroom with walk-in shower.
The home has hardwood floors throughout and additional storage space in the attic.
The unfinished basement has poured concrete flooring, and there is interior access to a two-car garage.
The house is minutes from major highways and a PATCO station. The JCC community center and Springdale Farm are also nearby.
The property is listed by Eliza Babcock of Keller-Williams Cherry Hill for $595,000.
