“It has a suburban feel and at the same time it’s close to the fun stuff,” is how Eileen Burke describes her three-bedroom, one-bathroom rowhouse in East Falls.

She bought the 1,120-square foot house in 2023, moving to the area to be close to one of her four children.

But she has been traveling more for her job in the power generation industry, and she and her two dogs no longer need as much space. So she is moving to a smaller house in the neighborhood, which she says she’ll never leave.

The house was built in 1954, and from the time she first saw it, Burke knew it would be a challenge. At the time, the owner had been renting it out to students and it had a worn, dorm-like feel, she said.

“It was a mess,” Burke said. “It was unlivable.”

She took down the outdated popcorn-textured ceilings, refinished the hardwood floors, and stripped multiple layers of wallpaper. But she kept the classic pink-and-black 1950s bathroom.

She updated the electrical system and replaced lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, and inside doors, and carpeted the upstairs. She installed Frigidaire appliances in the kitchen and refinished the walk-out basement for use as an office, and fenced in the front yard for privacy and pet-friendliness.

There is a one-car garage in the rear of the house.

Kelly Drive, a SEPTA Regional Rail station, and Thomas Mifflin School are close by.

The house is listed by Joe Mussari of Long & Foster Realty for $375,000.
