House of the Week: A three-bedroom rowhouse in Point Breeze for $600,000
The house was built three years ago and has a seven-year tax abatement remaining.

After many years of renting in different places in Philadelphia, Dahlia Kamel had expected to stay a while in the Point Breeze rowhouse, which was the first house she’d ever owned.
But the desire for more space and one-level living led her to another house “literally at the top of my block.”
Kamel works at the University of Pennsylvania, where she helps lead research on dementia. She grew up in North Carolina, came to Philadelphia for graduate school at Penn, and has spent the last decade here.
She worked with a contractor to design and build the 1,371-square-foot, three-bedroom, 2½-bathroom house, which is now just three years old. She chose the area because it was close to Penn and Center City, “but with less hustle and bustle.”
The main level is open concept, with the living room leading into the dining area and an eat-in kitchen with quartz countertops, a breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances, a pantry, and five-burner gas range with an exterior-vented hood.
Glass doors off the kitchen open to a private rear patio.
One level up are two bedrooms sharing a hall bathroom with tub and shower combination, and a laundry area.
The third floor is dedicated to the primary bedroom, which has a walk-in closet. The primary bathroom has heated tile floors, a dual vanity, and a glass-enclosed shower with a rainfall head.
A wet bar on the landing leads to the private rooftop deck with unobstructed views of the city skyline.
The finished basement has a half bathroom and built-in shelving.
There is a built-in speaker system wired through the house and the roof deck, a front video doorbell, and a security system.
The house has a seven-year tax abatement remaining.
It is listed by Pete Rossi of Redfin Corp. for $600,000.
