House of the week: A six-bedroom Jenkintown home for $749,900
The home was originally built in 1890 and features Mercer tiles on the front porch as well as bountiful space for entertaining.
Sophia Koropeckyj and her husband, Bohdan Pazuniak, wanted a house that hadn’t been destroyed by remodeling. They were looking for a place to live with their then 7- and 10-year-old sons. They hoped to host family gatherings and wanted a large dining room and high ceilings.
That was 27 years ago.
Now the semiretired couple — she’s an economist, he’s a geotechnical engineer — are downsizing, moving to a home they own in Philadelphia’s Fairmount neighborhood.
The Jenkintown house has six bedrooms, 3½ baths, and measures 3,451 square feet.
Koropeckyj particularly likes the Mercer tiles on the front porch, the wood-floored basement, the tree-lined streets, and the large kitchen the couple added to the house, which was built in 1890.
The main level has the living room, dining room, kitchen, a library with built-in bookshelves, a fireplace, laundry facilities, and a powder room.
The second floor has four bedrooms, a dressing room, and a sunroom.
The third floor has two additional bedrooms, with a full bath.
All bedrooms have deep closets and additional storage space.
There is a large deck and generously sized yard.
The basement has wood floors and an additional room that could be converted to an office.
There is a paved driveway with a two-car garage, and the house is close to a SEPTA Regional Rail station with its access to Center City and the airport, highly rated schools, and a wide array of restaurants and boutique shops.
The house is listed by Roman Shevchouk of Noble Realty Group for $749,900.
