Pewter collection highlights Philadelphia-area auction

The auction fever brought on each year by the Philadelphia Antiques Show, scheduled this year for April 28-May 1 at a new location, the Convention Center, will go up several degrees next weekend thanks to Pook & Pook Inc.’s sale of period furniture, fine art, and accessories in Downingtown. The 1,150 lots to be offered over two days come from half a dozen private collections, winding up with nearly 200 lots, mostly of pewter, collected by George and Janice Wolfe of Reading. The Wolfe pieces, also including a good silver Philadelphia coffeepot, are among the more than 680 lots in the second session, beginning at 9 a.m. April 21 at the gallery, 463 E. Lancaster Ave.
