Zach Caplan and his partner, Brook Burkavage, only lived in their three-bedroom, two-bathroom rowhouse in Washington Square West for about four years, but it was an interesting place to be while their previous residence, on Fitler Square, was totally renovated.

“You feel like you’re back in time,” said Caplan, a plaintiff’s lawyer in antitrust cases. “The whole section of the block is like a relic.”

The 1,350-square-foot Federal style house was built in the late 19th century and was added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1959. According to the Philadelphia Historical Commission, it was cited as an excellent example of an 1830s Greek Revival house in a well-preserved row.

The living room has the original pine floors, crown molding, and a wood-burning brick fireplace.

The kitchen has marble countertops, subway tile, cabinetry with matte black hardware, a leaded glass transom, and a brick floor.

French doors lead to a private brick patio and garden.

The second floor has two bedrooms and a hall bath with marble floors and a tub-shower combination.

The primary bedroom is on the third floor, with a walk-in closet, and an en suite bathroom with a glass door, marble shower, and double vanity. The primary suite also has a second working fireplace.

There is a loft office over the primary suite. A winding staircase ties the house together.

Neighborhood attractions include Midtown Village, Antique Row, and Washington Square Park, and there is easy access to public transit. The sellers are offering six months of prepaid parking.

The house is listed by Kristin McFeely of Compass Realty for $799,900.
