When Jen Driscoll was looking for a new home for herself, husband Mark, and their infant daughter, the four-bedroom, 2½-bath Colonial in Blue Bell offered a chance to move from Conshohocken to the area where she had grown up.

It also looked like a savvy investment and a chance for the couple to exercise their creativity in renovations.

That was in 2014.

Now, one more daughter, an addition to increase square footage, and many other changes later, they are moving again within Montgomery County, this time to their “dream house” in Lower Gwynedd.

The Blue Bell house was in disrepair when they bought it, and renovation has been an eight-year process, says Jen, a Realtor. “But It was love at first sight for me. I could see the changes I wanted.”

The HVAC and hot water heater were replaced, hardwood floors refinished, a new roof put on, the basement made into a play area for the girls. The family, including Jen’s and Mark’s fathers, pitched in for much of the work.

Jen says that it was a good investment for the same reason that buying the most expensive house in the area might not be.

The flagstone front walk leads to an interior with walnut-colored floors, wainscoting, and a living room with built-in cabinets and a bookcase.

Adjoining the living room is a formal dining room with chair rail and crown molding.

The kitchen has GE stainless steel appliances, white Shaker-style cabinets, a white subway tile backsplash, and granite countertops. The bay window looks out over a private wooded rear yard.

The family room has a gas log fireplace, bay window, and sliding doors leading to the covered rear porch and paver patio with flagstone sitting wall, exterior lighting, and stone fire pit.

Upstairs are three bedrooms in addition to the primary bedroom in the second-floor addition. That has two closets with built-in shelving organizers and an en suite bathroom with green marble flooring and a shower with frameless glass door.

Jen says the neighborhood is “really special,” with community events including lighting candles on the curbs at Christmas to form what she calls “Santa’s runway.”

The 3,050-square-foot house is in the Wissahickon School District.

It is listed by Lauren Kolea Stanton and Jen Driscoll of Keller Williams Realty Devon-Wayne for $750,000.
