On the market: A five-bedroom Colonial in Montgomery County for $400,000

Realtor Paul Augustine grew up next door to the house he's now selling.

The Augustines and the Sliders built adjacent Colonials with virtually identical floor plans in the Meetinghouse Village development in Hatboro in the late 1960s and soon became close friends.

Paul Augustine remembers growing up there with the Sliders as virtual grandparents, part of a friendly neighborhood where “you’d bounce from one front yard to the next.”

After he moved elsewhere in the area, Augustine would return every snowstorm to shovel out both his parents and the Sliders.

“You take care of each other,” he says. “That’s what I learned.”

The Augustines are still living in the house they built, but Robert Slider died in 2014 and his wife, Frances, died in October at 95.

And Paul Augustine, now a Realtor, is selling the Sliders’ house.

The five-bedroom, 2½-bath house has had several recent upgrades, including a new roof and water heater in 2019. Augustine notes that its versatile floor plan would easily lend itself to modernization.

A porch front entrance leads into the foyer with a coat closet.

The first floor has a large living room, dining room, and eat-in kitchen, plus a family room with a stone-clad wood-burning fireplace.

Upstairs are all five bedrooms, including a primary suite with bathroom that has a stall shower.

There are also a rear patio, back yard, and laundry room with two walk-in closets.

In addition to a one-car attached garage, the driveway can accommodate at least four cars. Total square footage is 2,272.

The house is in the Hatboro-Horsham School District.

It is listed by Paul Augustine of RE/MAX Centre Realtors for $400,000.
