Ro Huganir grew up in Norristown and her partner, Sterling Peacock, grew up in Mount Airy, but for the last six years, she has found that their house in East Oak Lane has combined the best of the city and suburbs.

“It’s really special,” says Huganir, a Realtor and dietitian. “It’s super quiet. You can literally take a nap on the porch.”

And Peacock, a trainer in the benefits area for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, “had always dreamed about living in this area.”

But now, they’re looking to move to find the best public school district for their son when he starts kindergarten in the fall.

The four-bedroom, 2½-bath house was built as a summer home for city dwellers about 1900 but was at some point converted to year-round use with the addition of insulation in the basement and attic.

“I wanted a lot of windows,” Huganir said. “I wanted it to be bright.”

The front porch of the 2,972-square-foot house sits behind heirloom rhododendrons and a burgundy cherry tree.

The main level has nine-foot ceilings and back-to-back fireplaces in the living and dining rooms, a first-floor office/mudroom with French doors and views of the backyard with its deck, pool, and grilling area.

The formal dining room has an adjacent sunroom, and windows in the breakfast nook and remodeled kitchen offer ample views of the rear area.

The kitchen has granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

The fully finished basement has a laundry area and half-bath.

On the second level, the main bedroom has windows that Huganir says “make it feel like a tree house.”

The second floor has two additional bathrooms and a hall bath, and a window box and bench create a reading nook.

The top floor has been converted into a fourth bedroom that currently serves as a yoga studio.

The two-car garage with the original barn doors has additional storage space.

The house is near the Fern Rock regional rail and subway station.

It is listed by Juanita Leysath of BHHS Fox & Roach Chestnut Hill for $419,000.
