Neither Irene Wilkoff nor her husband, Ben, grew up in Philadelphia. It was a party at the home of one of Ben’s fellow prosecutors in 2017 that sold them on the Point Breeze neighborhood. Now they wouldn’t consider moving elsewhere.

They bought the colleague’s two-bedroom, one-bath townhouse as a starter home and, with a baby expected in July, have moved to a larger home all of 60 feet away.

“We have neighbors from all walks of life,” says Irene, who is in e-commerce marketing. “Real salt-of-the-earth people who care about the neighborhood. There’s lots of camaraderie.”

Irene works from home, and Ben, now a commercial litigator with a Center City-based law firm, strides to work in 25 minutes although given his height — 6-foot-8 — most people might take a bit longer.

The house’s distinguishing feature might be its roof deck with skyline views. And with a house with a bare wall nearby, the couple can project TV or movies off it for warm-weather entertaining.

The open-concept living room has recessed lighting and hardwood floors and south-facing windows that let in natural light.

The kitchen has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a breakfast bar.

A bonus room off the kitchen behind French doors could be used as a dining area, home office, den, or playroom.

The bedrooms are on the second floor and have hardwood floors, ceiling fans and generous closet space.

The bathroom has light ceramic tiles, and a light wood vanity.

The basement houses the washer/dryer and mechanicals.

In addition to the roof deck, there is a rear patio overlooked by a second-floor deck.

Neighborhood features include a microbrew bar, farmer’s market, gym, animal hospital, and new restaurants springing up.

The house is listed by Susie Lauterborn of Compass Pennsylvania for $395,000.
