George and Susana Kuemmerle grew up in Buenos Aires, and she says “we’re city folks.”

But New Jersey has also been a lure since they emigrated to the United States in the 1980s.

They initially settled in Moorestown to be close to her relatives in Philadelphia. But after three years of renting in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood, they bought a four-bedroom townhouse in nearby Olde Kensington in 2018.

Now, though, they are looking for a foot in both geographical worlds.

Susana, a toy manufacturers’ representative in the Latin American market, and George, a retired merchant marine officer, are renovating a house in Brigantine, Atlantic County, and considering a pied-à-terre in the city.

“We liked the [Kensington] house. It was so bright and tall and exciting,” Susana said. It was a great place to hang their art, and they brought in all new furniture.

The 2,600-square-foot house is in a group of townhouses designed by Harman Deutsch Architecture as Jefferson Estates and built in 2017. The property tax abatement lasts until 2027.

The house has lofty ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, a floating glass-and-steel stairway system, an open-concept floor plan, an eat-in kitchen, a gas fireplace, and bathrooms on each floor.

There is recessed lighting throughout, dual zone HVAC, a security system, and wide-plank oak floors.

Upgrades include automatic window blinds throughout, a dedicated gas line to the roof deck, and ceiling fans in all bedrooms.

The home has three bedrooms and a den/office on the lower level, with three full bathrooms and two half-baths.

The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, custom gloss-white cabinets, quartz countertops and undercounter lighting.

There are also two wine racks and a wine refrigerator, and the laundry is on the landing between the kitchen and the third floor.

The primary bedroom is on the fourth floor, with a large walk-in closet and a bathroom with dual vanities, freestanding soaking tub, oversize stall shower, and private commode.

There are two fiberglass roof deck spaces that have panoramic views of the neighborhood and skyline, including the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

The house is listed by Tom Smitley of Compass Pennsylvania for $760,000.
