For Gabby and Sean McColgan, home over the years has meant Bucks County or East Passyunk.

They grew up in Bucks and spent almost the last decade in East Passyunk, where Gabby had been managing the family bar business.

But now, with the bar closed because of COVID-19 and their first child on the way, Gabby is selling medical devices. They are headed back to Bucks County with more than a little regret about leaving a rowhouse they bought in 2017 and renovated top to bottom.

“We know we’ll never get anything that size,” says Sean, a contract specialist at the Navy Yard. “And practically everything in the house was redone.”

The renovation took nine months while the couple lived with Gabby’s mother. Sean had contractors install all new wiring, plumbing, staircases, and railings.

“I would never do it again,” he says. And “I wouldn’t let him,” says Gabby, jokingly. “It took some convincing for me.”

The home has high-end finishes throughout. The kitchen features wood cabinets, granite countertops, and a gas range with air fryer.

The open-layout main floor is nearly 800 square feet, with a half-bath, and opens into a large back patio.

The second floor has three large bedrooms and a guest bathroom.

The main suite is on the third floor, with a cathedral ceiling; a large walk-in closet and dressing room with barn door entrance; a bathroom with custom rain shower head; and a 72-inch double vanity with marble countertop and soaking tub. There is also a separate laundry room.

The large basement, used largely for storage by the McColgans, could be converted to living space, a gym, or home offices.

There are multiple smart light switches that work with Amazon Alexa or Google Home and a smart thermostat with smart sensors.

The house is close to the Italian Market; the Broad Street subway line; a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants; and Columbus Square Park, with its new dog park.

The house is listed by Gregg Kravitz of OCF Realty for $639,900.
