On the market: A three-bedroom rowhouse in East Mount Airy for $327,500
The rowhouse, built in 1925, is located near two commuter rail lines and the Sedgwick Theater.
Kristine Weatherston says this — jokingly — about the East Mount Airy rowhouse where she and husband Colton have lived since 2014:
“We survived the pandemic in this house.”
The small but sturdy rowhouse — three bedrooms and 1½ baths — has brought warm feelings since the Weatherstons moved there from a rental apartment along the East Falls/Germantown border.
“We looked at a lot of houses, outside the city, as well,” Kristine says.
The house was built in 1925 and Colton cites the deep history of the area and the convenience of being next to two commuter rail lines leading into the city.
But now the couple — both media professors who grew up in Michigan — are looking for a larger place for themselves and their 8-year-old son.
The open-concept main floor has interior Doric columns and a stone accent wall.
There is bamboo and refinished oak flooring. Recent upgrades include new windows and window treatments, ceiling fans, and a kitchen with an island and granite countertops.
The bedrooms are on the second floor and the full bath has a new skylight.
The lower level is partly finished and has floor-to-ceiling shelves and a glass block window.
There is a large back deck off the kitchen. The driveway/alleyway backs up to the Sedgwick Theater, and there are no neighbors behind the house.
The house is near the Lovett Public Library, Mount Airy Playground, Weaver’s Way co-op, and the Germantown and Chestnut Hill business districts.
Kristine also mentions that the neighborhood is dog-friendly.
“We hope someone comes here and loves it as much as we have,” she says.
The house is listed by Brett Stephenson of Houwzer LLC for $327,500.
