There are always stages in a house’s life, and Susan and Peter Eizen thought their timing was excellent when they bought a townhouse in Queen Village in 2010.

The three-bedroom, 3½-bath home had just been built, so they were the first owners, but the builder had left space for them to improvise.

Over the years, Peter, who is in commercial real estate, and Susan, a licensed clinical social worker, gradually make other changes. They added a fireplace and custom built-ins and upgraded bathroom fixtures.

But now, with two preteen Eizens in the mix instead of one preschooler, they want more space than the house’s 2,883 square feet, so they are moving to a larger place in Society Hill.

“We liked the quietness of the development,” Peter says. “We liked the chance to pick some of our own finishes. But the kids need more space.”

The first floor of the house, which is in a cluster of 50 townhouses, has a foyer with an atrium ceiling, a garage, a family room/office or gym space, a powder room, and a rear patio surrounded by green space.

The second floor has a large living room with high ceilings, custom-built bookshelves, a deck, a powder room, and a dining area.

The kitchen has a glass tile backsplash, a Bosch dishwasher, an SS Electrolux refrigerator, four-burner stove with center griddle, and a water filtration system.

The third floor has two large bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a full-size washer/dryer.

The fourth floor has a large main suite with two walk-in closets and a bath with separate rainfall shower, a whirlpool tub, and a roof deck.

There is also custom tile in all the bathrooms, two-zone HVAC with humidifiers, security cameras front and rear, and WiFi-controlled thermostats.

TVs in the living room and main bedroom and deck furniture are included.

Peter notes that the shopping in the area is varied, giving the new owners a choice of the big-box stores on Columbus Boulevard and the more intimate shops and restaurants on the Fourth Street corridor.

The house is close to I-95 and I-76 and is in the Meredith School catchment area.

It is listed by Karen Joslin of Elfant Wissahickon Rittenhouse Square for $875,000.
