Doc Rivers to coach Thursday’s game against Chicago Bulls
The 59-year-old has compiled a 967-693 regular-season record in stops with the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers and Sixers. He has the 10th most coaching victories in NBA history.

CHICAGO — Doc Rivers will coach the 76ers in Thursday night’s game against his hometown Chicago Bulls at the United Center.
This comes after Rivers missed Wednesday’s practice here due to being ill. The Sixers have a road game Friday night against the Washington Wizards. Rivers’ status for the game has not been provided.
Rivers’ illness is non-COVID-19 related.

The Sixers are without All-Stars Embiid and Simmons, who are both sidelined due to contract for the coronavirus.
The two came in contact with a barber who tested positive for COVID-19 and are quarantining for seven days following their last exposure with that barber. Embiid can return for Friday’s road game against the Wizards if he continues to test negative. Simmons will be cleared to rejoin the team on Saturday if he also continues to test negative.
The Sixers (24-12) have been dealing with injuries, positive coronavirus results, contract tracing and illness during the first half of the season.

Chicago’s Lauri Markkanen and Otto Porter Jr. are both available for Thursday night’s game against the Sixers. Markkanen missed the Bulls last 13 games with right shoulder pain. Porter tweaked his back on Jan. 8 against the Los Angeles Lakers, and has missed the last 15 games to rehab back spasms.
