SALT LAKE CITY – Dominick Barlow left the 76ers’ game at the Utah Jazz Saturday night with a left ankle sprain and will not return, per the team.

Barlow sustained the injury during the first quarter. He went to the floor on the offensive end, attempted to get back on defense, and then gingerly walked off the court and to the Sixers’ locker room.

Barlow’s injury adds to a growing list for the Sixers, who are already without starters Tyrese Maxey (pinkie tendon sprain), Joel Embiid (oblique strain), Kelly Oubre Jr. (elbow sprain), and Paul George (suspension). Barlow has been a feel-good story for the Sixers this season, ascending from a player on a two-way contract to starting forward.

He entered Saturday averaging 8.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 59 games. The Sixers (38-32) entered Saturday in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, but with the same record as the eighth-place Miami Heat and seventh-place Atlanta Hawks. Those three teams were a half-game behind the sixth-place Orlando Magic, and two games ahead of the 10th-place Charlotte Hornets.

After Saturday’s matchup in Utah, the Sixers next host the defending-champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday (7 p.m., NBCSP).
