Sixers-Raptors observations: Mike Scott’s presence, Jimmy Butler’s dominant half
In addition, Ben Simmons didn’t commit a turnover in his 33 minutes, 47 seconds of action.

The 76ers defeated the Toronto Raptors, 112-101, in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
Here are some observations and best and worst awards:
Three observations
- Mike Scott had his best game of the series, finishing with 11 points on 4-for-5 shooting. The Sixers reserve made 3 of 4 three-pointers. The power forward also graded out with plus-29, which was second behind Joel Embiid’s plus-40.
- Toronto was unable to get anything outside of its big three: Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry. They were the Raptors’ only double-digit scorers. Serge Ibaka was their lone rotation player who did anything, and his nine points were misleading. He made just 3 of 10 shots before fouling out with 3 minutes, 49 seconds left.
- By now, we know the Sixers just have to live with their turnovers. They had 18, which led to 21 points by the Raptors. Embiid had five and Jonathon Simmons had three. One positive note: Ben Simmons didn’t commit a turnover in his 33:47 of action.
Best and worst awards
- Best performance: This goes to Jimmy Butler. He scored a team-high 25 points to go with eight assists, six rebounds and two steals. Nineteen of his points came in the first half.
- Worst performance: I had to give this to Danny Green one game after he made 5 of 7 three-pointers. This time, however, the Raptors shooting guard hit just 2 of 8 shots, all three-point attempts, en route to scoring eight points. He had any many turnovers (two) as field goals.
- Best defensive performance: Embiid receives this award with two blocks and one steal. Just his presence on the floor elevated the Sixers defense.
- Worst statistic: This goes to the Raptors for hitting 1 of 8 three-pointers (12.5 percent) in the third quarter.
- Best statistic: This goes to Butler for scoring 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting in the second quarter.
