Rare victory in D.C., Joel Embiid’s injury, and perfect foul shooting | Sixers vs. Wizards best/worst awards

WASHINGTON — This was bittersweet.

The 76ers got a rare victory in the Capital One Arena over the Washington Wizards Friday night. Yet, Joel Embiid suffered a game-ending left knee bone bruise in the third quarter of a contest he dominated.

Here’s a look at the best and worst awards from the Sixers’ 127-101 victory over the Wizards:

Best performance

Embiid gets this. Before going down, the four-time All-Star was unstoppable. He had 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting to go with seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Embiid posterized Mo Wagner on several plays.

Worst performance

Davis Bertans gets this. The Wizards reserve post player is known for being a sharpshooter. But there was nothing sharp about his shot. He missed four of his five attempts, all three-pointers, en route to finishing with three points.

Best defensive performance

Matisse Thybulle gets this. The Sixers shooting guard had three steals and one block while making things tough for the players he guarded.

Worst statistic

This goes to the Wizards’ foul shooting. They made 13 of 22 attempts for 59.1%.

Best statistic

This goes to the Sixers’ foul shooting. They went 18-for-18 from the foul line.

Best of the Best

This goes to the Sixers snapping a 10-game losing streak to the Wizards in D.C.

Worst of the worst

This goes to Embiid injuring his knee. The MVP candidate had an MRI Saturday morning that revealed no structural damage. But he will miss at least two weeks.
