With seasons concluding across Europe this weekend, Soccer on TV is going on hiatus for a while. Thanks to all of the loyal readers out there who’ve enjoyed this space. We wrap things up here with a special edition detailing all the big games to watch across the continent, and a few on this side of the Atlantic as well.

UEFA women’s Champions League final

Saturday, 1 p.m. (YouTube, DAZN, atafootball.com)

It’s the matchup that women’s soccer fans around the world have dreamed of: the reigning champion against the most decorated team in European women’s soccer history.

Barcelona has lost just one game all year, thanks to stars such as Alexia Putellas, Caroline Graham Hansen, Jenni Hermoso and Asisat Oshoala. Lyon has won a record 7 women’s European Cups, and its squad is equally loaded: Ada Hegerberg, Wendie Renard, and Americans Catarina Macario and Lindsey Horan. Macario is a finalist for the French league’s player of the season award in her first season as a pro.

England’s Premier League

All games Sunday, 11 a.m. (various channels)

On paper, first-place Manchester City (90 points) could drop points at home against Aston Villa (NBC10, Telemundo 62, Peacock), and second-place Liverpool (89) could beat Wolves at home (USA Network, Universo) by enough to close the five-goal-difference gap.

But while it would be incredible karma to see former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard manage Villa to the upset, even the most loyal Reds fans know the odds are slim.

The real drama is at the bottom of the standings, where Leeds and Burnley are battling to avoid relegation. Both teams have 35 points, and Burnley’s goal difference is 20 better (-18 to -38). Burnley hosts Newcastle (Golf Channel, Peacock) and Leeds, managed by American Jesse Marsch, visits Brentford (Peacock).

There could also be drama in the race for 4th place, the Premier League’s last Champions League berth. If Tottenham (68) loses at already-relegated Norwich (Syfy, Peacock) and Arsenal (66) beats Everton (CNBC, Peacock), the 5th-place Gunners will jump over Spurs.

But that isn’t likely, not least because Arsenal has been shut out in its last two games by Tottenham and Newcastle.

Finally, while 6th-place Manchester United (58) and 7th-place West Ham (56) are both going to Europe next season, they haven’t guaranteed which competition. Sixth goes to the Europa League and seventh goes to the Europa Conference League qualifying playoffs. United visits Crystal Palace and West Ham visits Brighton (both on Peacock).

Italy’s Serie A

Games throughout the weekend (all on Paramount+)

The biggest matchups are Sunday, when first-place AC Milan (83) hosts Sassuolo and Inter Milan (81) hosts Sampdoria (both at noon). AC Milan is going for its first Scudetto since 2011, while Inter is going for its second straight.

Later in the day, the relegation battle will be finished when 17th-place Salernitana (31) hosts Udinese and 18th-place Cagliari (29) visits last-place Venezia (both at 3 p.m.). Venezia is already guaranteed to go down, which is too bad for American midfielders Gianluca Busio and Tanner Tessmann – and also for the U.S. fan base Venezia has built up.

Along with the live streaming on Paramount+, CBS Sports Network will televise a live whip-around show through both game windows to bring viewers the action as it happens.

Lastly, there will be jostling for places 5-8, with the first two going to the Europa League and the third to the Conference League qualifiers. Sixth-place Roma (60) visits Torino on Friday (2:45 p.m.), then the other three competing teams play Saturday (all 2:45 p.m.): 5th-place Lazio (63) hosts Hellas Verona, 7th-place Fiorentina (59) hosts Juventus, and 8th-place Atalanta (59) hosts Empoli.

Note that the first standings tiebreaker is head-to-head record in the season, not goal difference. Roma has the edge on Lazio, and Fiorentina has the edge on Atalanta.

Spain’s La Liga

All games with stakes are Sunday (all on ESPN+).

All that’s left to contest here are 7th place and the last relegation spot. The first battle is for a Europa Conference League qualifying spot. Seventh-place Villarreal (56) visits Barcelona and 8th-place Athletic Bilbao (55) visits Sevilla, both at 4 p.m.

The relegation battle has three teams: Granada (37), Mallorca (36) and Cádiz (36). They all play at 2 p.m.: Granada hosts Espanyol, Mallorca visits Osasuna, and Cádiz visits already-relegated Alavés. Osasuna-Mallorca is also on TV on ESPN Deportes.

It could all play out in a lot of different ways, including multiple tiebreakers: head-to-head results first, then goal difference, then total goals scored in the season if that’s needed.

France’s Ligue 1

All games Sunday at 3 p.m. (all on beIN Sports Connect)

We return to goal difference as the first tiebreaker, and it could really matter here. Three teams have a shot at second place and a Champions League group stage berth. Monaco (68, +25) visits Lens, Marseille (68, +21), and Rennes (65, +42) visits Lille. So Rennes could jump to second if it all goes right. Third place goes into the Champions League qualifying playoffs.

Lille-Marseille is also available for free (albeit with ads) on beIN Sports Xtra.

Fourth place goes to the Europa League, and Rennes is battling Strasbourg (63, +21) and Nice (63, +15). Fifth place goes to the Europa Conference League qualifiers, and Lens (61) is in the picture there.

At the bottom, Metz and Saint-Étienne hope for one last chance to avoid relegation by finishing third-from-last, which would lead to a playoff against Ligue 2′s third-place finisher. The two Ligue 1 clubs -- the latter of which is one of France’s traditional powers -- are tied on 31 points, with Metz holding a goal difference advantage of six.

Saint-Étienne visits Nantes, and Metz visits star-studded champion Paris Saint-Germain. The latter game is on beIN’s linear TV channels, and could be Kylian Mbappé's last game for PSG before an expected move to Real Madrid.

Germany’s Bundesliga promotion/relegation playoff

Monday, 2:30 p.m. (ESPN+)

After winning at Hertha Berlin 1-0 in the first game, Hamburg can return to the Bundesliga for the first time since 2018 with a win or tie at home.

Liga MX playoff semifinals

Saturday and Sunday (both games on Univision 65 and TUDN)

Reigning champion Atlas stomped perennial power Tigres 3-0 at home on Wednesday. It’s a big hole to climb out of, but if any team can, it’s Tigres with its electric fan base. That game is Saturday at 9 p.m.

In the other semifinal, Pachuca earned a 1-1 tie at Club América in the opener. Now the regular season’s first-place finisher comes home for the second game Sunday at 9 p.m.

MLS and the NWSL

On Saturday, Nashville SC hosts Atlanta United in prime time on Fox29 (7:30 p.m.).

On Sunday, the NWSL takes center stage with two early-evening games on Paramount+. At 5 p.m., Gotham FC finally plays its regular-season home opener. Midge Purce and company host Racing Louisville after last weekend’s game vs. North Carolina was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Courage.

Then at 6 p.m., Rose Lavelle and Megan Rapinoe lead OL Reign against Trinity Rodman and Ashley Sanchez’s Washington Spirit (6 p.m.)
