The Eagles' schedule release video and some of our other favorites from around the NFL
The NFL won't play games that matter until September, but Thursday offered a chance for bragging rights among social media teams.

The NFL season might officially start on Sept. 9 with a Super Bowl rematch between the Patriots and the Seahawks, but some of the action started Thursday night with the social media Super Bowl: The NFL schedule release.
For the past few years, the trend of teams taking to social media to creatively share their schedules for the upcoming season has become an event in itself.
This year, many teams leaned into an art theme, the Chargers continued their tradition of using video game themes, and one video even featured a surprise makeover that has fans across the league talking.
Here’s a roundup of some of the best schedule release videos:
Eagles
Sometimes less is more, and the Eagles showed that with their simple concept schedule release. Jalen Hurts, Jihaad Campbell, Jordan Davis, Jordan Mailata, and Saquon Barkley all starred in the video, sitting around a table. They then opened envelopes for each week with their opponents revealed inside, giving their raw and unfiltered reaction for each.
Despite the conference room setting for the 13-minute video, which was the longest of all 32 scheduled release videos, the group wasn’t all business. After opening the Week 11 matchup with the Steelers, Campbell asked if Aaron Rodgers was still the quarterback for Pittsburgh to which Hurts responded, “Who knows.”
They also discussed Kelly Green jersey-and-helmet combos and the flight duration for the Week 5 trip to London to face the Jaguars. Barkley wasn’t too happy about the lack of a bye week following the international game.
The video ended with the full schedule shown on the screen while Hurts, in true team-leader fashion, cleaned up after his teammates and pushed in their chairs.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers release video is annually revered as one of the best, and this year was no different. Following the thematic trend they’ve committed to the past few years — videogames — Los Angeles released its video in the style of “Halo,” a military science fiction game.
Chargers videos have historically included digs at their opponents, hidden like Easter eggs throughout. This year, the hidden gem social media noticed was the dig at Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel for his much-publicized relationship with former NFL reporter Diana Russini.
While the video depicts the Patriots falling short of the Super Bowl, a notification that says “NY Post sent you a message” pops up on the screen. (The New York Post was first to report the Vrabel/Russini story.) There is also a sign that says “Next photo dump: 1 mile” referring to the steady stream of photos of the two that has been released via various media channels.
Other video game themes included the Cleveland Browns, which did a play on “Street Fighter” while the Green Bay Packers did an arcade theme.
Jacksonville Jaguars
No video this year was buzzier than the Jaguars’ schedule release featuring its quarterback, Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence, known for his long hair, sat down in a barber’s chair for the release video, and over the course of two minutes, his hair was snipped away while the schedule was revealed.
At the end, Lawrence’s long locks were gone, and he was left with a short new look that a lot of fans are hoping is a wig.
New York Giants
They might be the Eagles’ division rival, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Having Jameis Winston, or Winston Van Gogh, play Pictionary to reveal the schedule is pretty ingenious.
While his cheesesteak drawing for the Eagles looked more like a cheese “crab,” the concept for the video was a lot better than the drawings themselves.
And the Giants weren’t the only team to lean into the art theme. Fellow New York team the Jets mixed paint hues to reveal their schedule, while the Chicago Bears did a Bob Ross theme.
Indianapolis Colts
The Simpsons clips work well for all occasions, memes, predicting the future, and NFL schedule releases.
The Colts used clips from the iconic show to reveal their schedule for the year, including a clip of fans throwing pretzels at Mr. Burns with Homer calling it “the Philadelphia handshake.”
There was also a reference to the Colts’ ongoing losing streak against the Jaguars with a “4,252 days without a win in Jacksonville” sign spotted in one part of the video, as well as the famous meme of Homer backing up into the bushes to represent the week the Colts play the Jaguars.
