Comcast Spectacor announced Monday that the company will be pulling out of its ownership of the Wings, Philadelphia’s National Lacrosse League franchise, at the end of the 2025-26 season.

“We have made the difficult decision to cease operations of the Philadelphia Wings franchise under the Comcast Spectacor portfolio following the 2025–2026 season,” a company spokesperson said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful to our fans, players, and the entire Wings community for their passion and support since the team’s return in 2018. As part of our ongoing evaluation of long-term business priorities, the Wings franchise no longer aligns with our strategic direction.

“We remain focused on driving growth across our sports and entertainment portfolio, including building the Philadelphia Flyers into a Stanley Cup contender and partnering with HBSE to deliver a world class arena in South Philadelphia. We thank the Wings community for their unwavering dedication to the sport and to this franchise.”

The rights to the team now belong to the NLL, which said in a statement that it has “already initiated a comprehensive process to identify the next ownership group.”

“Our priority is to position this franchise for sustained success and long-term value creation,” NLL commissioner Brett Frood said. “We are actively engaging with prospective ownership groups who share our vision for growth, community impact, and competitive excellence. The league’s momentum continues to build, and we are confident this transition will lead to an exciting new chapter for the franchise and its players.”

It is uncertain whether the team will stay in Philadelphia or relocate to a new market.

The Wings, originally founded in 1987, have been under the Comcast Spectacor umbrella since they were reestablished in the NLL in 2017, returning to action in 2018. The Wings previously relocated to Connecticut in 2014. Throughout the team’s most recent seven-season run in Philadelphia, it recorded a 47-73 record and made one playoff appearance.

There are two more games left in the season, with the team’s final home game at Xfinity Mobile Arena scheduled for April 11 (7 p.m.) against the Las Vegas Desert Dogs.
