Just two weeks after the PGA Championship made its way to Aronimink Golf Club, the ShopRite LPGA tournament will be returning to the Jersey Shore for its 38th year.

Competition is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway Township. The public can attend practice on Tuesday and the pro-am on Wednesday and Thursday.

What is it?

The event will feature 144 of the world’s best female professional golfers competing for a share of $2 million, which is a $250,000 increase from last year’s purse. They will compete over three days in a 54-hole tournament.

The ShopRite LPGA is one of the LPGA Tour’s longest-running events. The tournament debuted at Seaview in 1986 as the Atlantic City LPGA Classic before moving to Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point from 1988 to 1997. It returned to Seaview in 1998.

The tournament has featured some of the game’s top players, including Juli Inkster, Betsy King, Dottie Pepper, Se Ri Pak, Annika Sorenstam, Cristie Kerr, Stacy Lewis, and Karrie Webb.

Who is competing?

The field will include eight of the tournament’s past champions — Brittany Lincicome, Anna Nordqvist, Annie Park, Celine Boutier, Brooke Henderson, Ashleigh Buhai, Linnea Strom, and defending champion Jennifer Kupcho.

The field will also include Brooke Biermann, who finished second last summer in the U.S. Women’s Amateur and is making her LPGA Tour debut, after competing on the Epson Tour.

What tickets are available?

Volunteers pay $65 and will receive one tournament-branded golf shirt, a hat or visor, volunteer pin, one volunteer badge, which offers ground access and free parking all weekend, two any-day grounds passes, and one round of golf on Seaview’s Bay Course.
