Last Local Band Blowout: Rock at the Troc

After decades of hosting illustrious musical acts like Pearl Jam and Sonic Youth, the Trocadero is closing. What better way to send off one of the city’s most beloved live venues than with a huge blowout performance by local bands? Ten bands are taking the stage for what’s sure to be a lively farewell party.

First Person Arts GrandSlam

This final-round story slam, about growing pains, will see Philly’s top storytellers compete for a $250 cash prize. Come laugh, cry, and feel with your fellow humans as they bare their souls.

Election Night Party

FDR Park Master Plan Celebration

South of the stadiums, FDR Park is an oasis for skaters, golfers, dog walkers, and more — and all the use has left an impression over the years. On Wednesday, Friends of FDR Park, the Fairmount Park Conservancy, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation reveal a new master plan for the 348-acre urban oasis. The event coincides with Parks on Tap, which holds a fund-raising happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m.

Devon Horse Show

Billy Joel and The Who

Ho-hum. The Piano Man is playing at Citizens Bank Park on Friday — it’s the sixth year in a row he’s done so. The Who follow him on Saturday, with unretiring duo Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey on the road after releasing their first album of new material in 13 years.
