Runway reopened at Philadelphia International Airport after shutdown caused delays
Delays for arriving flights were needed as crews worked to fix a power issue affecting runway lights, officials said.

A runway has reopened at Philadelphia International Airport after being shutdown earlier on Friday for repairs and causing substantial delays for arriving flights, officials said.
A ground stop for arriving flights was ordered Friday afternoon and then was eased to a ground delay, officials said.
The ground delay has since been lifted.
The Federal Aviation Administration had reported that delays could last until 12:59 a.m. Saturday and be as long as 130 minutes for flights to Philadelphia leaving other airports.
Heather Redfern, spokesperson for the airport, said earlier that a power issue impacted lighting on the runway and needed to be closed for repairs.
There has been an increase recently of delays and cancellations at the airport, but Redfern said those were decided by airlines and could have been caused by weather or other factors.
The arrival delays on Friday added to the existing woes for travelers at the airport.
The Transportation Security Administration on Thursday temporarily closed the Terminal C security checkpoint at the airport because of a funding fight in Congress.
