Why some North Philly sidewalks are covered in poetry

Mural Arts has partnered with PHA to make public art a real presence in the city's $750 million revitalization of the Sharswood area of North Philadelphia. "We have had to be very creative as a lot of these traditional mural surfaces are going up and coming down and being built over and changing," said Philip Asbury, Mural Arts’ director of community murals. As a result, eighteen resident-written poems that are being permanently etched onto the sidewalks of a neighborhood that was once one of the city’s most troubled.
