Mark Armstrong, a 6-foot-2 combination guard from St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, N.J., announced Thursday night on Twitter that he has given an oral commitment to Villanova for the freshman class of 2022.

Armstrong, who is rated four stars by 247Sports, chose the Wildcats over his other two finalists, Rutgers and Stanford. He is ranked 19th in the country at his position and is the No. 6 prospect in New Jersey, the recruiting web site said.

Armstrong is the first player to commit to Villanova’s 2022 freshman class.
