Man, woman die early Thursday in separate shootings

Two people were killed in two separate shootings late Wednesday and early Thursday, according to Philadelphia police.

No arrests have been made in either incident, and investigations are ongoing. Neither of the victims’ identities has been released.

Police responded late Wednesday to a report of a person with a gun around the 5200 block of Hawthorne Street in Frankford, where a 30-year-old man was shot multiple times in the head, back, right thigh, and hip. Officers reportedly found 23 shell casings there, according to CBS3.

The man was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

Just after 7 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a shooting victim on North Millick Street near Market Street, close to the 60th Street stop along the Market-Frankford Line in West Philadelphia. Service along the El was not disrupted, a SEPTA spokesperson confirmed.

Officers found a 45-year-old woman who was shot in the head. She was pronounced dead a short time later, around 7:15 a.m.
