The last time the Eagles competed against the Kansas City Chiefs for a Lombardi Trophy, Jason Kelce was gearing up to play against his younger brother Travis in what will forever be known as the Kelce Bowl. This time around, Jason is a spectator, Mama Kelce doesn’t have to choose sides, and Travis is competing for another ring.

But ahead of the big game, with both Kelce brothers both in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX, they filmed a special episode of New Heights in-person, with pair of special guests — another legendary NFL brother duo — Eli and Peyton Manning, who joined virtually. The guys reflected on memories dating back to their childhood, their time in college, and their career in the NFL. Here’s what you missed …

Jason’s open container

During the show, Jason participated in a New Orleans food and drink taste test. The former Eagles center reviewed some of the city’s staples, such as fried alligator and a Hurricane cocktail composed of rum and passion fruit syrup. As Jason was drinking the Hurricane, he recalled an old college memory: “Remember that time I got an open container [citation] in college?”

“I just turned 21,” Kelce said. “And I went to a house party in Cincinnati and the cops come to tell us to shut the [expletive] up. And the cop walks through the door and everybody starts running because there’s a bunch of underage — like I was barely over 21 — everybody else was under 21. So, they start skedaddling and I’m like, I’m good baby. I’m drinking a beer in front of the cop. He’s like ‘Do you live here?’ I said ‘I’m 21.’ He said, ‘I did not ask that.’ … I said, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘I suggest you get the [expletive] out of here.’ I’m like, ‘Yes, sir.’

“We start walking to another house that’s like four blocks away and I am not exaggerating, we’re like maybe three houses before I’m in that front door. I reach into the case, take a can of beer out, crack it. Whoop, whoop. Guy pulls up, rolls his window down, same cop. ‘Well, well, well, if it isn’t Mr. 21.’ He gave me a ticket so fast. He’s like ‘I don’t know if you know this, but you’re not allowed to have an open container.’”

Lesson learned.

Jason’s troublemaking past

But this wasn’t the first time Jason found himself getting himself into trouble. In fact, his troublemaking dates back to elementary school.

“I got suspended every freaking year of elementary school for getting into fights,” Jason said. “Travis got into a fight, and then went into the principal office and got tickets to the Cavs game because everybody loved him so much.”

“Well that’s because I was such a good artist, Jason,” Travis responded. “I won a contest. But that was besides the fact.”

Eli pranks Saquon Barkley

Former Giants quarterback Eli Manning talked about his relationship with Saquon Barkley, playing two seasons with the three-time Pro Bowler during his time with the New York Giants. When Barkley was on the show last year, he was asked what his “Welcome to the NFL” moment was, and one of the moments that stood out — along with Fletcher Cox’s trash talk — was when Eli shoved grass in his mouth. Eli looked back on the moment with the Kelces.

“This is a confirmed story,” Eli said. “Every year before the first preseason game — a lot of these years you know the starters aren’t starting much and they’re really going over a little bit, that first game what the routine is for the first preseason game by how do we line up, how do we stretch, how do we run out of the tunnel …

“So we’re kind of doing those things and I’m kind of sitting on the sideline for a long time, and I always kind of walk up to a few of the rookies and I’m kind of holding my mouth and I’m like, ‘Man, I got to get — my teeth been bothering me — I got to get my wisdom teeth pulled after the game.’ And they’re kind of asking questions, and I ask them if they’ve ever had their wisdom teeth pulled. Whether they say yes or no, I say, ‘Can I see?’ … they kind of open up, look up and open their mouth. I got a big clump of grass and dirt in my hand. I just throw it in there.”
