Eagles sign a safety, waive Tre Sullivan ahead of preseason finale
Sullivan played a prominent special teams role down the stretch last season. Jason Thompson now get a look.

Safety Tre Sullivan, who played in 12 games for the Eagles last season, fell victim to the team’s improved depth Tuesday. The Eagles announced they had waived Sullivan and signed safety Jason Thompson.
Thompson, 25, played at Utah and has been on offseason rosters of the Packers and the Falcons.
Sullivan, also 25, came to the Eagles in 2017 as an undrafted rookie from tiny Shepherd University, in Shepherdstown, W.Va. He was cut before that season, then joined the practice squad in November. Last October, amid a flurry of injuries in the defensive backfield, Sullivan joined the active roster and was one of the team’s most prominent special-teams players. He also played 62 percent of the defensive snaps in the playoffs -- had a really good game against Chicago, and a not-so-good game at New Orleans.
Sullivan is known as a big hitter. He came into camp this year looking to solidify his role but he has not fared well in coverage, in practices or in preseason games.
