An armed robber accosted an employee of a Dollar General store in North Philadelphia after she had locked up Saturday night, ordered her to reopen the store and then took $7,000 cash from the safe, police said.

Police gave the following account:

The employee had left the store on the 2800 block of Ridge Ave. shortly after 9 p.m. and was walking north on Sedgley Avenue when she noticed a van parked on the east side of the street. As she approached the vehicle, a man she did not recognize jumped out of it, grabbed her by the collar and simultaneously lifted his vest/jacket to reveal a gun.

The gunman ordered the employee back to the store and had her unlock the door. Once inside, he directed her to open the safe and lie down on the floor before he left with the cash.

There were no reported injuries.
