Temple Health appointed Robert A. Winn to lead research arm at Fox Chase Cancer Center
Winn is expected to move to Fox Chase this summer from his current position at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Robert A. Winn will be the next leader of the Fox Chase Institute for Cancer Research, Temple University Health System announced Thursday.
Winn, currently director of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, will join Fox Chase this summer. He succeeds David Wiest, who was appointed interim cancer center director in October.
In Virginia, Winn led spearheaded the Massey center’s achievement of the National Cancer Institute’s highest research designation in 2023. His leadership drove significant growth in research funding, Temple said.
Fox Chase has the same designation as a comprehensive cancer center that Winn earned in Virginia.
“Dr. Winn is the kind of leader who accelerates progress and brings people together to solve the most complex challenges in cancer,” said Robert Uzzo overall CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center, including the hospital, in the announcement. “With his leadership, Fox Chase is poised to expand its national influence and deliver even greater breakthroughs for patients.”
In addition to overseeing core scientific research, Winn is expected to grow research programs that address cancer prevention, treatment, and outcomes across communities in the Philadelphia region and nationwide, Temple said.
Winn’s research and advocacy efforts have included work on making clinical trials more equitable with respect to racial and ethnic minorities and socio-economic status.
