The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office on Friday said 26-year-old Rashad Muse of Philadelphia was the man who was fatally struck by vehicles after he ran onto Interstate 676 in Camden after fleeing from police during a traffic stop last month.

Authorities also released video from police body cameras and a street camera that showed parts of the Feb. 6 incident.

About 7:30 that night, Camden County Police Officer Edward Melton and Officer Trainee Danielle Sigwart, who were in a patrol car, saw a Dodge Charger driven by Muse speeding on Morton Street in Camden, the Attorney General’s Office said. Melton activated his emergency lights and siren, but Muse did not stop, authorities said.

Instead, he drove onto a snow-filled lot off of Whitman Avenue and onto a sidewalk. As Melton and Sigwart and other responding officers got out of their vehicles and approached Muse, shouting for him to get out of the car, Muse continued to drive, striking multiple vehicles, including a police vehicle, and driving very close to officers who were on foot before speeding away onto Whitman, authorities said.

Sgt. Brandon Galloza saw the Charger speeding on Mount Ephraim Avenue, then turning left onto Pine Street, where it crashed into a support column underneath the I-676 highway, authorities said.

Muse got out of the car, climbed over a fence, and ran up the embankment onto the highway, where he was struck by civilian vehicles and fatally injured, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators met with Muse’s relatives to review the videos before releasing them to the public, the Attorney General’s Office said, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.
